Mary Queen of Franciscan Fraternity has a unique charism of its own. This fraternity originated in 1989, influenced by the newly formed Capuchin Hermitage. The Capuchin Province of St. Augustine sponsors the Hermitage, a contemplative friary then located in Herman. From the start, the Secular Franciscan Fraternity sought to share the vibrant faith of St. Francis. In his life Francis explicitly opened up his life to the Lord through a deeper conversion. He was open to the full range of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Francis treasured the value and richness of people relating in the Lord and sharing their faith values in community. His whole life was a joyful song of praise, gratitude and thanksgiving to the loving Father of all the universe. Like St. Francis, who was called to live a deep, prayerful evangelical life, each professed member of Mary Queen of Franciscans Fraternity has sensed a deepening of his orand solitude as they become energized by the Franciscan way of life. Like St. Francis who was called to "Rebuild My Church," Mary Queen of Franciscans Fraternity works to promote these key values that are under attack in the society at large:
1. -Renewal of faith 2. -Renewal of the family 3. -Defense of God's gift of life
